Hollywood Rising-Star Award at the 51st Deauville Film Festival
The Deauville American Film Festival is pleased to announce that actress Zoey Deutch will receive an Hollywood Raising-Star Award at its 51st edition. Each year, this distinction honors an emerging figure in American cinema whose career, acting and artistic choices embody the renewal of the 7th art.
After Mikey Madison, honored in 2024 and recently awarded an Oscar for her role in Sean Baker’s Anora, Deauville continues its mission of revealing the talents of tomorrow by consecrating Zoey Deutch, whose trajectory is impressive for its coherence and audacity.
Since her debut, Zoey Deutch has established herself as a promising actress of undeniable cinematic genius. Revealed in such strong, eclectic works as Ry Russo- Young’s Before I Fall, Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland: Double Tap, Max Winkler’s Flower, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician series, Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some, Claire Scalon’s hit romantic comedies Set It Up and Tanya Wexler’s Buffaloed, and Graham Moore’s stylish thriller The Outfit. Other recent films include Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2, in which she stars alongside Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette, as well as Quinn Shephard’s Not Okay and Daryl Wein’s Something from Tiffany’s, both of which she also executive produced. Deutch also made her Broadway debut last Fall as Emily Webb in Our Town.
On this occasion, the actress will present a special premiere of Richard Linklater’s new feature, Nouvelle Vague. With grace, impertinence and humor, she plays the American star Jean Seberg, and imposes an acting talent that goes beyond the simple art of mimicry, embodying a free-spirited, iconic woman of the 60s who is truer than life.
A true bridge between American and French cinema, between Austin and Paris, this film is Richard Linklater’s fair and malicious tribute to Jean-Luc Godard, to youth, to creation and to the spirit of freedom of the Nouvelle Vague.
Hollywood Rising-Star Award ceremony will be followed by a screening of Nouvelle Vague, in the presence of Zoey Deutch, at the Festival on September 12, 2025.
