Katell Quillévéré gained attention for her first short film, À bras le corps, selected for the 2005 edition of the Cannes Directors Fortnight. Five years later, she returned to the sidebar selection with Love Like Poison, her debut feature. In 2013, she directed The Staple of News, which opened that year’s Cannes Critics’ Week. The film earned her a César nomination for Best Original Screenplay and led to Adèle Haenel winning the César for Best Supporting Actress. In 2016, she directed Heal the Living, starring Tahar Rahim, Emmanuelle Seigner and Anne Dorval, presented at the Venice Film Festival in the Orizzonti section, as well as in competition at the Toronto Film Festival. Adapted from the novel by Maylis de Kerangal, the film earned her a César nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2021, she co-directed along with Hélier Cisterne the series Reign Supreme, broadcast on Arte and Netflix. The series won the Grand Prize at Series Mania and the Best Series Award from the French TV Critics’ Association. Her last film to date, Along Came Love, with Anaïs Demoustier and Vincent Lacoste, was presented at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Prize at the 2023 Angoulême Francophone Film Festival. Alongside her activity as a director, Katell Quillévéré co-founded the Brive Film Festival, dedicated to medium-length films, and works with the French Film Directors’ Association defending filmmakers’ rights.
