History
2025 • 51st edition
The 51st edition of the festival opens in the presence of actress Pamela Anderson, a pop culture icon, and étoile dancer Marie-Agnès Gillot, who delivers a breathtaking performance on the CID stage.
Young actress Zoey Deutch receives a Deauville Talent Award, while Kim Novak, the last great glamorous star of Hollywood’s Golden Age, returns to Deauville for the second time and is greeted with a standing ovation during the ceremony held in her honor. The Festival also pays posthumous tribute to the great actor Paul Newman, also a director, racing driver, and tireless philanthropist.
Actor and director Joel Edgerton is also present to receive a Deauville Talent Award and to present Clint Bentley’s lyrical and beautiful film Train Dreams.
Kristen Stewart, one of the most talented actresses of her generation, presents her first film as a director, The Chronology of Water, and speaks about the French films that inspired her during a passionate and engaging discussion.
The festival also honors Alice Guy, a pioneer of cinema who was too long left in the shadows, through a retrospective of several of her American short films. For the first time, the Deauville Industry Encounters are also organized: a day dedicated to French and American film professionals, who were able to exchange ideas during workshops.
Finally, President of the Jury Golshifteh Farahani and her jurors award the Grand Prix to the debut feature The Plague by Charlie Polinger, a coming-of-age story tinged with fantasy.
