The Revelation Jury of the 52^nd Deauville Festival

The Deauville Amer­i­can Film Fes­ti­val is pleased to announce the com­po­si­tion of the Rev­e­la­tion Jury for its 52^nd edi­tion, which will be chaired by Lio.

The Rev­e­la­tion Jury cel­e­brates ear­ly promise, fresh per­spec­tives, and the film­mak­ers who will shape tomor­row’s cin­e­ma. Each year, the fes­ti­val entrusts this mis­sion to artists whose jour­neys embody free­dom, curios­i­ty, and boldness.

Since her stage debut, Lio has chal­lenged con­ven­tions, assert­ed artis­tic free­dom and play­ful fan­ta­sy, and has accom­pa­nied soci­ety’s evo­lu­tion through both her choic­es and her pub­lic voice. A pop­u­lar fig­ure who has become an icon, she con­tin­ues today to car­ry a sin­gu­lar voice. Revealed to the pub­lic through song, she has col­lab­o­rat­ed in cin­e­ma with numer­ous direc­tors such as Chan­tal Aker­man, Cather­ine Breil­lat, Claude Lelouch, Diane Kurys, and Katell Quillévéré.

She will be joined by four per­son­al­i­ties whose careers tes­ti­fy to the vital­i­ty of young French cinema:

Noée Abi­ta, whose mod­ern and authen­tic act­ing was revealed by Léa Mysius (Ava) and earned her a César nom­i­na­tion for Most Promis­ing Actress for Slalom by Char­lène Favier. Her choic­es weave a dis­tinc­tive fil­mog­ra­phy from Gilles Lel­louche’s Sink or Swim to the Lar­rieu broth­ers’ film Jim’s Sto­ry.

Mar­i­on Bar­beau, prin­ci­pal dancer at the Paris Opera Bal­let, land­ed the lead­ing role in Rise by Cédric Klapisch. With Guru and In a Whis­per, pre­sent­ed in com­pe­ti­tion at the Berli­nale, she con­tin­ues a jour­ney where the demands of the stage nat­u­ral­ly dia­logue with those of the big screen.

Manon Clav­el, nom­i­nat­ed for the César for Most Promis­ing Actress for her role in Kika, divides her career between film sets and the stage. Dis­cov­ered in The Truth by Hirokazu Kore-eda, she already demon­strates a sure taste for con­tem­po­rary writ­ing and com­plex characters.

Sayyid El Ala­mi has estab­lished him­self as one of the most promis­ing young actors of his gen­er­a­tion, dri­ven by choic­es that are as bold as they are com­mit­ted. Revealed to the pub­lic in the series Oussekine, he was sub­se­quent­ly praised for his unfor­get­table per­for­mances in Block Pass by Antoine Chevrol­lier and And Their Chil­dren After Them by Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma.

Togeth­er, they will award the Rev­e­la­tion Prize dur­ing the clos­ing cer­e­mo­ny, which will take place on Sep­tem­ber 12^th.
