Walter Thompson-Hernández

Los Angeles–based writer-direc­tor Wal­ter Thomp­son-Hernán­dez is a Sun­dance Insti­tute lab alum. He began his career as a reporter cov­er­ing glob­al sub­cul­tures for The New York Times. He direct­ed the doc­u­men­tary Untold: Shoot­ing Guards for Net­flix before mak­ing his nar­ra­tive fea­ture debut with Kites, which won a Spe­cial Jury Prize at the 2025 Tribeca Film Fes­ti­val. His award-win­ning short If I Go Will They Miss Me, pre­sent­ed at Sun­dance in 2022, laid the ground­work for his sec­ond feature.
