About

Orig­i­nal­ly from Mem­phis, Ten­nessee, Ira Sachs began his career in New York in the 1990s with sev­er­al short films before direct­ing his first fea­ture, The Delta, in 1996. He gained inter­na­tion­al recog­ni­tion in 2005 with Forty Shades of Blue, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sun­dance Film Fes­ti­val and was select­ed in Com­pe­ti­tion at the Deauville Amer­i­can Film Fes­ti­val. In 2016, Lit­tle Men won the Grand Prize at Deauville. The Man I Love, his tenth fea­ture film, was pre­sent­ed in com­pe­ti­tion at the last Cannes Film Festival.
