Joe Dante

Joe Dante began his career as a film edi­tor and quick­ly emerged as a sin­gu­lar voice in Amer­i­can film­mak­ing. He par­tic­u­lar­ly gained recog­ni­tion with Grem­lins’ films, blend­ing the tra­di­tion of 1950s B movies, the rad­i­cal spir­it of the 1960s and car­toon com­e­dy. His work, at the cross­roads of hor­ror, com­e­dy and sci­ence fic­tion, is char­ac­ter­ized by its satir­i­cal edge, sense of nos­tal­gia and abil­i­ty to blur the bound­aries between real­i­ty and the surreal.
