About

Born in 1979 in Kokko­la, Fin­land, he grad­u­at­ed from ELO Helsin­ki Film School of Aal­to Uni­ver­si­ty in 2014. Many of his films were award­ed at the Cannes Film Fes­ti­val: his medi­um-length film The Paint­ing Sell­ers (2010) with the Ciné­fon­da­tion First Prize, his fea­ture debut The Hap­pi­est Day in the Life of Olli Mäki (2016) with the Un Cer­tain Regard Prize, and his sec­ond film Com­part­ment No. 6 with the Grand Prix this year. Besides mak­ing films, he also direct­ed avant-garde operas and the­ater plays.
