About

Born in Florida, she went to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In 1994, she wrote and directed her feature debut River of Grass. The great American landscapes and journey stories became part of her universe, as in Old Joy (2006), which won the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival, and Meek’s Cutoff (2010), shot in Oregon’s high plains desert. She won the 2013 Deauville Film Festival’s Grand Prize with her eco-suspense thriller Night Moves.
