About

Lau­ra Smet stud­ied act­ing under Ray­mond Acqua­vi­va in Paris. In 2003, Xavier Gian­no­li gave her her first film role in Eager Bod­ies, for which she earned the Romy Schnei­der Prize, the Étoile d’Or for Best Female New­com­er, and a César nom­i­na­tion for Most Promis­ing Actress. She went on to appear in Claude Chabrol’s The Brides­maid, Pas­cal Thomas’s Towards Zero and Philippe Garrel’s Fron­tier of the Dawn. Roles fol­lowed in Jalil Lespert’s Yves Saint Lau­rent, Frédéric Schoendoerffer’s 96 Hours, Mia Hansen-Løve’s Eden, Katia Lewkowicz’s French Dolls, Olivi­er Marchal’s Car­bon and Xavier Beauvois’s The Guardians. In 2018, she direct­ed her first short film, enti­tled Thomas. In TV, she starred in Pao­lo Barzman’s 2020 series La Garçonne and in Sli­mane-Bap­tiste Berhoun’s 2025 series Sur­face, based on the nov­el by Olivi­er Norek. She made her stage debut in 2022 in Simon Stephens’s The Uncer­tain­ty Prin­ci­ple, direct­ed by Louis-Do de Lenc­que­saing. She will soon appear in the fourth sea­son of the series The White Lotus and will play Huguette Clerc in John­ny, the upcom­ing film by Cédric Jimenez.
