Based on the best­selling nov­el by Joyce Car­ol Oates, BLONDE bold­ly reimag­ines the life of Mar­i­lyn Mon­roe, explor­ing the split between her pub­lic and pri­vate selves. 

Based on the best­selling nov­el by Joyce Car­ol Oates, Lucien-Bar­rière Lit­er­ary Prize in 2010, BLONDE bold­ly reimag­ines the life of one of Hol­ly­wood’s most endur­ing icons, Mar­i­lyn Mon­roe. From her volatile child­hood as Nor­ma Jeane, through her rise to star­dom and roman­tic entan­gle­ments, BLONDE blurs the lines of fact and fic­tion to explore the widen­ing split between her pub­lic and pri­vate selves. Writ­ten and direct­ed by Andrew Dominik, the film boasts a cast led by Ana de Armas and fea­tur­ing Bob­by Can­navale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nichol­son, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.

The film will be pre­sent­ed in French pre­miere with direc­tor Andrew Dominik and actress Ana de Armas in attendance.

The Hol­ly­wood Ris­ing-Star Award was inau­gu­rat­ed in 2011 by the Deauville Amer­i­can Film Fes­ti­val to com­mend the tal­ent, pas­sion, and involve­ment of actors and actress­es start­ing on the path to cre­ation. These emerg­ing per­form­ers are the faces of tomor­row’s cinema.

In our past edi­tions, Ryan Gosling (2011), Jes­si­ca Chas­tain (2011), Paul Dano (2012), Robert Pat­tin­son (2015), Eliz­a­beth Olsen (2015), Chloé Grace Moretz (2016), Daniel Rad­cliffe (2016), Shai­lene Wood­ley (2018), Elle Fan­ning (2018), Sophie Turn­er (2019) and Dylan Penn (2021) received this award. 

For more than a decade Cuban born actress Ana de Armas has made a name for her­self in Spain and Amer­i­ca and is now becom­ing one of the industry’s most sought-after actress­es. Work­ing with crit­i­cal­ly acclaimed direc­tors such as Eli Roth (KNOCK NOCK), Todd Phillips (WAR DOGS), Denis Vil­leneuve (BLADE RUNNER 2049), Rian John­son (KNIVES OUT), Olivi­er Assayas (WASP NETWORK), Cary Joji Fuku­na­ga (NO TIME TO DIE), the Rus­so Broth­ers (THE GRAY MAN), de Armas has brought to the big screen com­pelling per­for­mances with warmth, pas­sion, and versatility.
