This year, 13 films will be pre­sent­ed in Com­pe­ti­tion at the Deauville Amer­i­can Film Fes­ti­val. A vibrant and kalei­do­scop­ic selec­tion that paints a por­trait of a diverse Amer­i­can youth in search of mean­ing and iden­ti­ty. These works paint a snap­shot of the quest for lost care­free­ness: that of a gen­er­a­tion con­front­ed with the wounds of par­ent­hood, the chal­lenges of com­ing of age, but also the eco­nom­ic, envi­ron­men­tal, and polit­i­cal issues that are pro­found­ly redefin­ing its future.

Will 2025 mark the dawn of a new matu­ri­ty for Amer­i­can inde­pen­dent cin­e­ma? Or will it pro­long the Amer­i­can dream of eter­nal adolescence?

Beyond ques­tions and forms, what we are most eager­ly await­ing is the ever-unpre­dictable alche­my of the encounter between these new works, the Deauville audi­ence, and its sov­er­eign juries. This is where cin­e­ma takes on its full mean­ing. And it is in Deauville that this mag­ic hap­pens, every year, with the same intensity.
